Guests are often surprised to find it so delightfully tucked away in a private location. I think it looks just like the scene in the movie “The Notebook” when Allie and Noah are in the little wooden canoe and get caught in a rainstorm and race back to his house. The old rustic bridge you cross just before getting to the cabin add loads of charm to a beautiful setting….and is a very popular spot for photos.

This property is budget priced due to the location being on the corner of a construction lot. Not to worry, there is very little activity there, especially on the weekend.

Grandma’s Cottage is a charming home away from home. The serene country setting is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life. It is located just 2 miles from The Barn at Cedar Grove and only 15 to 20 minutes from Columbia and Greensburg. You’ll find the quaint, country kitchen fully equipped with cooking and serving utensils. It has 4 comfortable bedrooms and a queen sleeper sofa. It has 2 bathrooms and a huge screened porch. Amenities include a washer and dryer, dishwasher, central heat and air, satellite TV and Wi-Fi.

The 2 red rockers on the front porch are a peaceful place to sit with a morning cup of coffee. If you’re lucky you might spot a bald eagle or hawk in one of the tall cedars lining the lane. The screened porch is a perfect spot to enjoy the symphony of night sounds. The bull frogs at a nearby pond the crickets and the occasional hoot of an owl. You’ll find this peaceful country setting a perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The little 1930’s farmhouse is my husband’s childhood home. This sweet little house required extensive renovations to save it from certain demise. A definite labor of love….and one we found quite rewarding. In keeping with the era of time, we chose to keep the original interior paint colors and include lots of vintage details. It’s like stepping back in time….but with all the modern conveniences. My husband recalls how he and his brother slept upstairs. In the winter it was so cold ice would form on the inside of the upstairs window. Of course, there was no central heat and air in those days…only wood stoves and fireplaces heated the homes. In the summer it was so hot you could hardly breathe. By the time he was 10 or 11 years old, his father would call him and his brother to get up at 4 A.M. and go to the barn to milk. But they knew when they were through with the chores of feeding the cows and milking, a wonderful breakfast would be waiting for them. A breakfast of homemade biscuits, homemade everything from jams and jellies to home-cured bacon and ham. To hear him tell about it makes you wish you had been there too. It was a way of life he fondly recalls.

The little farmhouse has 2 bedrooms downstairs (1 queen and 1 full) and 1 bedroom upstairs (2 twins). A darling little kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a large screened porch.
